For the past 13 years, the CJ Saraceno internship program has brought Tufts students out to Los Angeles and helped launch their careers in a life-changing way. By interning at Bona Fide Productions, each student gets to experience Hollywood first-hand and work directly with Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, the brilliant producers behind Little Miss Sunshine, Nebraska and many iconic films.
“None of what I’m even dreaming would be possible to dream, if I didn’t have the chance to be in this space, surrounded by such powerful, kind and loving mentors,” said Liz Maelane, who was able to work in the film industry for the first time through this internship. “I’m eternally grateful to all those involved in keeping this incredible initiative going.”

In memory of CJ Saraceno (Class of 2011)
This internship program was created in memory of CJ Saraceno, who passed away at the age of 24. CJ was a creative force, a thoughtful friend and a brilliant classmate. He grew up in Connecticut, discovered his love for film at Tufts (he took the course “Advanced Filmmaking” five times!) and drove out to Los Angeles to turn those passions into opportunities. Full of energy, he was dedicated to exploring new methods of storytelling.
In the spirit of CJ, this internship program provides Tufts students the opportunity to forge their own creative path — and to make a difference in how stories are told.
Your support provides transformational experiences
Los Angeles is intimidating for many students at Tufts. From buying a plane ticket, to renting a car, and diving into an industry that is infamously challenging if you don’t know anyone … the barriers to the industry can feel insurmountable. CJ knew how hard it was but charged ahead. We want to support students who share his vision and help them “make it” in Hollywood.
The program, administered by the Film and Media Studies Program at Tufts, provides a summer internship and financial support to one student each year. Students who otherwise would not have the financial means to pursue internships in Los Angeles are given special consideration.
