About

Exciting Opportunity to Double Your Impact!

We are thrilled to announce a challenge from Dave Greenwald GBS11, and his wife Lauren. If our community can raise $10,000 to the Greenwald Endowed Fund for Graduate Student Mental Health & Resilience the Greenwalds will match it with an additional $10,000, resulting in a total of $20,000 in support of student wellness and resilience programs. This is an incredible opportunity for our community to come together and make a significant difference in the lives of graduate students at Tufts University.

Graduate students on the Tufts University health sciences campus face a challenging academic environment that often leads to isolation and burnout. In fact, a recent study showed that 47% of graduate students meet the criteria for depression. These students are the backbone of scientific innovation, yet the stress of earning a Ph.D., MD or DMD can take a significant toll on their mental health. A supportive, resilient community is essential for students to reach their potential as creative, innovative scientists. To ensure students can thrive both academically and personally, Tufts is committed to fostering an environment that supports their mental health and resilience.

The Greenwald Endowed Fund for Graduate Student Mental Health & Resilience provides vital support for students by funding wellness initiatives and resilience-building programs, improving students' lives and equipping them with essential life skills. By providing financial support to this endowed fund, you will have lasting impacts on both individual students and the broader scientific community by ensuring the next generation of researchers can thrive in a challenging world.

This endowed fund will grow in perpetuity and support the Tufts health sciences graduate students by:

  • Expanding mental health and wellness resources for students
  • Supporting new initiatives to reduce burnout and stress during critical academic milestones
  • Providing community-building activities that foster a sense of belonging and resilience
  • Sponsoring ‘Culturally-Competent’ mentorship training for faculty

Philanthropic contributions are essential to the success of this initiative. Your support—whether it's $100, $1,000, $5,000, or more— will be matched and go twice as far in helping Tufts graduate students thrive. Together, we can directly contribute to improving the well-being and academic success of Tufts graduate students.

Please consider making a gift today to support graduate student mental health and the future of science and meet this exciting challenge.
