Why a first-generation college student scholarship?
Tufts is committed to meeting the full, demonstrated need of every admitted student. We also want to be sure Tufts is accessible to the brightest students from all backgrounds. 11% of the students admitted to the class of 2028 are the first generation of their families to attend college. We want to help ensure this diverse group of applicants has the financial resources necessary to attend and thrive!
What happens if we don’t hit 100 donors?
Don’t worry, we will! But, in case we don’t hit our goal, every dollar raised will still be put toward financial aid. Your gift will still count and help a deserving student, but we need to hit 100 for the full scholarship for a first-generation student.
If I already gave this year, will an additional gift to this crowdfunding project count?
Yes, it will. Our goal is to inspire alumni who have not given yet this fiscal year (July 1, 2023 – now), but all gifts made by June 30 will count. Thank you! (Can’t remember if you gave? Email tuftsfund@tufts.edu)
How much have you raised for the TUAA First-Generation Scholarship?
Since 2017, TUAA has raised $145,970 from 1,067 donors. Every dollar raised goes directly to a first-generation student.
